CS4Hope hosts a School-Club (STEM) Session on Machine Learning and Agentic AI Exploring the fundamentals of artificial intelligence through hands-on learning

Following the successful launch of CS4Hope, the initiative hosted its first in-person Machine Learning Workshop, welcoming more than 50 students for an engaging afternoon of learning, discussion, and hands-on exploration of artificial intelligence. The workshop introduced students to the core ideas behind machine learning, helping them understand how computers learn from data and how AI systems are trained to recognise patterns, make predictions, and solve real-world problems. Designed for students with varying levels of experience, the session focused on building intuition before moving into practical examples and demonstrations.

Throughout the workshop, students explored key concepts including supervised learning, datasets, model training, feature selection, and real-world applications of machine learning across healthcare, finance, transportation, and environmental sustainability. Interactive discussions encouraged participants to think critically about both the opportunities and ethical responsibilities associated with modern AI technologies. With over 50 students participating, the session created a collaborative environment where attendees actively asked questions, shared ideas, and worked together to understand challenging concepts. The enthusiasm and curiosity shown by students highlighted the growing interest in artificial intelligence within the school community. Beyond the technical content, the workshop reflected CS4Hope's mission of making high-quality STEM education accessible through student-led initiatives. By encouraging collaboration, curiosity, and practical learning, the session demonstrated how students can learn advanced topics in an engaging and supportive environment.

This workshop marks the beginning of a wider series of AI and computer science sessions planned by CS4Hope. Future workshops will explore topics including deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, competitive programming, mathematics for machine learning, and real-world AI applications. The success of this first in-person Machine Learning Workshop is another important milestone for CS4Hope as it continues building a community where students can learn, collaborate, and inspire one another through technology.

Following this first session, CS4Hope plans to organise further workshops, student-led activities, guest speaker sessions, learning programmes, and collaborative projects in mathematics, computer science, and artificial intelligence. This opening session, attended by more than 50 students, was the first step in that journey, and the beginning of a community where students can learn, contribute, and grow together.
